French Lexicon Card Game

This vintage French card game was first introduced by John Waddington, Ltd. of London in 1932. Miro of Paris introduced their version some four years later.

The card game is contained in a book shaped slip case, including two instruction booklets. There are 51 cards with the letters of the alphabet and score values and one master card with a score value as well as two informational cards about the game.

They also write: Lexicon was introduced in 1932, when a small edition was produced and sold to test the market - but it had an unsuccessful beginning. The first edition was sold through stationery shops and sales were practically non-existent. It was decided to pack Lexicon more attractively and raise the price. However, following an intensive newspaper advertising campaign in England, the game became a wonderful success, and profits eventually allowed Waddingtons to develop the 'Monopoly' game.

This set contains the cards and two booklets (in French).
