French Soldier's ID bracelet, Marseille, 1924

Sorry, this item has sold.

*****Please note the disc has a slight bend in the middle.

This French soldier's identification bracelet bears his name-- Marcel Coubert, the year 1924, and the city Marseille with another number 5501.

The bracelet is small, measuring 7" end to end. It has a French coin for five centimes, dated 1924, on one end.

An interesting article on military identification tags is here: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0379073820304308

The French formally introduced their identity disc system in 1881 after identity discs began being used during the Franco-Prussian War. In May of 1915, French soldiers began receiving two discs, one to wear around the neck and one to wear on their wrist.

If this is to be worn, links may have to be added, depending upon the size of one's wrist. I suggest a safety catch as well.

*****Please note the disc has a slight bend in the middle.

Thank you for looking.
