This vintage rosary is also a reliquary. The crucifix opens, after the pin at the bottom is unscrewed, to reveal soil and a stone from catacombs and a slip of paper that reads "Ex Terra Catacombarum Agnus Dei." There are also four metal floral embellishments within the reliquary.
The rosary beads are spina christi seeds that are said to have adorned Jesus' crown of thorns (although these are by no means the originals.) The measurements are 32" total (16" each side), not including the crucifix and the portion by which it hangs. This latter portion is 6". The crucifix alone measures 1.5" x 1", not including the pin.
CONDITION: The inner compartment with the catacombs soil and the slip of paper has significant wear. Please note that a nail is missing from Christ's left hand on the front of the crucifix. Also, there is wear and scratching to the crucifix, especially on the reverse and sides. Please examine all photos and let me know if you need more as I'll be happy to oblige.
