This particular French book of the Fables of Jean La Fontaine is circa late 1800s. Its 668 pages contain over 100 full page engravings by Eugène Lambert. This edition also contains all of his fables, numbering 239 and divided into 12 books.
The book has condition issues including damage on the front and back boards as well as a torn spine. Some pages are partially shaken, and there are tape reinforcements throughout the book, some on the page edges and some as seen in the fourth photo. Additionally, there is a torn bottom corner (with a piece missing but not containing text or any illustration) on a page toward the end of the book. Finally, there is foxing, most abundant at the front and back of the book. The interior of the book has foxing but not near the amount shown on the title page (ninth photo).
